Hello my fat adapted family! Here’s MY guide to foods you can eat when in ketosis.

Today’s topic is drinks.

I just want to clarify that these are MY opinions as someone who has been in ketosis for quite a few years now. You may not agree with my guides and that’s okay. This may not be the guide for you. At the end of the day, it’s your keto journey/diet/lifestyle, I’m just putting my 2 cents in here to try and help some people with the information I promote.

SUMMARY:

– You will need to drink a lot of liquid to stay healthy and happy in ketosis – especially at the beginning of your journey.

– Plain water is the best option… always.
You can enhance your water with sugar free or low sugar enhancers like Crystal Light. Put something like frozen strawberries or lemon in.
Be careful with bottled flavoured water. It can be full of carbs.

– You can have fizzy water and club soda.

– Clear Broth & Bouillon is great, especially during the keto flu.

– Black Coffee and Tea is pretty okay, just check carbs for flavoured coffees.
That being said, you can add dairy to your hot drink if you choose to.

– Diet Soda/Diet Fizzy Drinks are okay. They should be 0kcal and 0g carbs.

– Energy Drinks and Juice Alternatives are okay IF they are low carb. Things like sugar free Redbull, Powerade Zero etc.

-Just because something says no added sugar, doesn’t mean it’s not teeming with carbs – CHECK LABELS.

-Drinks like smoothies and milkshakes will need to be made at home and should be a treat due to ingredients like milk being high in carbs.

-No vegetable juice and ABSOLUTELY do not drink fruit juice – it is just sugar.

Why waste your carbs on liquids that are there to keep you hydrated, not give you energy? Keep them as low as possible (under 7g) and make sure you drink enough.

(My favourite enhancer is Robinson’s Squash’d Mango and Passionfruit)
