However, what most people don’t tell you is about the side effects, more specifically, about the tiredness you might suffer once you start an intermittent fasting schedule.

Someone just wrote to me recently asking me if I feel tired while doing intermittent fasting, mostly because, he feels fatigued almost all the time.

And, in biological terms, it makes sense.

Your body is no longer getting the constant source of fuel you used to get from eating all day long, so expect to feel a little sluggish that first couple of weeks.

But you should be able to see this tiredness disappear after the first couple of weeks. Most of it has to do with ketogenic metabolism and how your body transforms the way it processes energy from now on.

Diet soda is a carbonated beverage with table sugar taken out. In its place, manufacturers include a zero-calorie sweetener, or sugar alcohol.
By removing sugar, the beverage loses its calories, sugar, and carb content.
To better understand diet soda on keto, take a look at one of the most popular brands today, Diet Coke.
One serving of Diet Coke contains, 0 calories, 0 grams of fat, 0 grams of total and net carbs, 0 grams of protein and 40 mg of sodium.
As you can see, diet soda doesn’t give you much nutritional value.
With its basic mixture of carbonated water, artificial sweeteners, colors, and other additives, there’s no significant nutrition to be found in this beverage.
But even though the ingredients are nutritionally void, they do affect your health in multiple ways.
For one of the top name brands out there today, the ingredients include, Carbonated water, Caramel coloring, Aspartame, Phosphoric acid, Potassium citrate, Natural flavors, Citric acid & Caffeine.
Out of all these, Aspartame is the one that we should be seriously concerned about.
Aspartame is an artificial sweetener that you find in diet sodas like Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi. It’s also a key ingredient in the popular sugar alternatives Equal and NutraSweet.
These are all brands we know well and that have kept our sweet tooth happy. But, there are some facts about them that are worth knowing.
Aspartame is made up of aspartic acid and phenylalanine, which are both types of amino acids.
Aspartic acid is produced naturally in the body, and phenylalanine is an essential amino acid, which means we get it from food.
When digested in the body, aspartame converts to methanol, which is toxic in large doses.
Methanol, when heated, can even turn into formaldehyde which is a carcinogenic substance that has been shown to cause cancer.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the pH of saliva—should it be acidic or alkaline?

The normal pH range of saliva is between 6.2 and 7.6. A pH level of 7 is neutral. Anything above 7 is on the alkaline side, and anything below 7 is on the acidic side.

This means that your saliva is slightly acidic or slightly alkaline—it’s near the neutral mark.

If your saliva is too alkaline, you may develop tartar. If your saliva is too acidic, you can develop cavities and infections.

Bacteria in your mouth can use sugar to create acids. On a keto diet, you may be more acidic. However, on a healthy keto diet, you won’t run into problems because you’re consuming 7-10 cups of vegetables a day. This helps provide a lot of alkalinities to balance out the acidity.

Candida can cause ammonia to build up in your mouth. Ammonia is alkaline. Chronic stress can also cause you to become very alkaline.

Being highly alkaline isn’t always a good thing—it depends on the fluid in your body. For instance, stomach acid should be very acidic.

The key to normal pH levels is to be on a healthy diet. Focus on a healthy keto diet, and your pH levels will normalize.
